Based on the ideas explored in his book Acts, Not Tricks, Luis Olmedo shares his approach to constructing magic as an artistic experience rather than simply a sequence of tricks.
Through a combination of theoretical discussion, personal experience and some of his most representative pieces, Luis explores how an effect can become something much more than a method: an act with structure, intention, atmosphere and meaning.
A special focus is placed on aesthetics in magic — the way images, objects, gestures, music, rhythm, silence and even the smallest details can shape the way an audience experiences the impossible. The goal is not simply to make magic look beautiful, but to understand how every artistic decision can contribute to the experience.
The lecture is aimed at magicians of all levels who already have some knowledge of magic. It is not about finding more tricks to add to your repertoire, but about learning to look at the material you already have with different eyes.
